Cornell Notes

Why take notes?

Research shows that a significant amount of the information we learn is forgotten in as little as 20 seconds. Surprisingly, almost 1/2 of what is learned is forgotten within an hour! Cornell Notes is an effective method of recording information and retaining what we learn.

In the AVID Elective, we will learn and practice taking Cornell Notes so that students don't just write the information down and forget it. They will learn the lifelong skill of how to use their notes as an important tool for studying.

How to set-up Cornell Notes

Cornell Notes (C-Notes) ALWAYS include a proper heading, an essential question, and a section for questions, notes, and a summary.
